Lifeline Community Ambulance delivers at Mossley SOUP #13

Lifeline Community Ambulance secured the most votes at Mossley SOUP #13, receiving £1,031 raised by event attendees.

On Thursday 27 October, we welcomed over 120 diners to Emmaus Mossley for our thirteenth event, sponsored by Premier Kia.

Diners donated £5 each in return for soup, entertainment, presentations from four local projects and a vote. Live music welcomed diners as they took their seats and enjoyed freshly made soup and bread. Four project presentations followed, each having four minutes to share their idea followed by four questions from the audience.

The projects were Wellbeing and Remembrance Area by students of Mossley Hollins High School, Mossley Litter Summit by members of Mossley Litter Bugs, Blowin’ In The Wind by local resident Win Ashmore, and Lifeline Community Ambulance C.I.C.

After the presentations, diners cast their votes, a fundraising raffle was drawn and then the winning project was announced. Lifeline Community Ambulance secured the most votes and received £1,031 raised from donations on the door, the raffle and £100 from Premier Kia.

For the first time ever at Mossley SOUP, thanks to an increased sponsorship donation from Premier Kia, three runners up also received £100 towards their projects.

John Gilmore, one of three presenters from Lifeline Community Ambulance, said:

“Wow, I still can’t believe the overwhelming feeling I and the team had on the night of Mossley SOUP – such an emotional rollercoaster ride!

“There were so many other deserving groups and we were so glad everyone got a share. We wanted to assist the children from Mossley Hollins and this is why we gave them an additional £100 to help them on their way to attaining their goal of the memorial garden.

“We hope to get the wheelchair vehicle up and running soon thanks to the monies donated. I’d like to thank everyone who attended and supported Mossley SOUP, and also the volunteers who organise SOUP events.”

Four freshly made soups were prepared by local volunteers Emma Hall, Lesley Arnold and Rory Callaghan. Soup ingredients and bread were donated by The Allotment Cafe, Emmaus Mossley and Pattisons Butchers.

Raffle prizes were kindly donated by George’s Deli, Mossley AFC, Mossley AODS, Postbox Photography Studio, Salsa Beauty Rooms, Scona Café, Summit Up Climbing Centre, Suki’s Wardrobe, The Allotment Café and The Vale.

Project ideas are being sought from individuals, artists, community groups, charities and businesses for our next Mossley SOUP event scheduled for 23 February 2023.
