The Happy Bump Club delivers at Mossley SOUP #18

The Happy Bump Club delivered the winning presentation at Mossley SOUP #18, securing the most votes and £1,629 raised by event attendees.

On Thursday 24 October, we hosted our eighteenth event at Emmaus Mossley, sponsored once again by Premier Kia. More than 160 diners were in attendance, each donating £5 in return for soup, entertainment, presentations from four local projects and a vote.

Local musician Jon Mambo welcomed diners as they took their seats and enjoyed freshly made soup. Four presentations followed, with each having four minutes to share their project or idea, followed by four questions from the audience.

The four projects presented were Good Earth Community, Home Grown Independence – Stronger for Longer, Notorious – Events Space, and The Happy Bump Club x Millie’s Trust Family First Aid Day.

After the presentations, diners cast their votes, a fundraising raffle was drawn and then the winning project was announced. The Happy Bump Club, a group supporting new parents to give their babies the best start in life, secured the most votes from event attendees.

Emma Kenyon, presenter of The Happy Bump Club, said: “It was so great to present our project at Mossley SOUP. Once I was in front of the audience it was very nerve-wracking but everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

“All the groups were very deserving of the money so I was so surprised when our Bump Club was announced as the winner. I can’t wait to get the Millie’s Trust first aid sessions underway and hopefully help many families feel more confident in accident and emergency situations.”

The Happy Bump Club received £1,629 raised from donations on the door, the raffle, a £250 donation from Emmaus Mossley and £100 from Premier Kia. The three runners-up also received £100 each towards their projects from event sponsor Premier Kia.

Four freshly made soups were prepared by local volunteers Dave, Rita and Sarah. Soup ingredients were donated by A Taylor & Son Family Butchers, Co-op Mossley, Mossley Organic and Fine Foods and The Veg Lord, and cakes were donated by event attendees.

Raffle prizes were kindly donated by Anthony Barton Independent Family Funeral Service, George’s Deli, Hatch Bakery, Mossley AFC, Photography by Cara Jane, Royal Exchange Theatre, Suki’s Wardrobe, The Gillery, The Vale, Uppermill Therapies and Weaver & Wilde.

Project ideas are being sought from individuals, artists, community groups, charities and businesses for the next Mossley SOUP event, planned for February 2025.
